Below, we break down the most anticipated events that make this venue a must-visit in the coming months.
Live Horse Racing: The Crown Jewel of the Season
The Penn National Race Course track is the beating heart of the property, and the upcoming season promises some of the most competitive fields in the region. The highlight is the annual Pennsylvania Derby Day simulcast, which draws serious bettors and casual fans alike. Gates open early, allowing guests to watch morning workouts before the first post time. The atmosphere on race day is electric, with the sound of hooves thundering down the stretch and the roar of the crowd as horses break from the gate.
What makes these events unique is the integration of the casino floor. You can place your bets at the track, then walk straight into the gaming area to try your luck on the latest slot machines or play a hand of blackjack between races. The racing schedule typically runs from late spring through early fall, with special carded events on weekends and major holidays.
Live Entertainment and Concert Series
Beyond the track, the Hollywood Casino has invested heavily in its live entertainment lineup. The outdoor pavilion and the indoor event center host a rotating cast of tribute bands, comedy acts, and nationally touring musicians. The upcoming series includes a mix of classic rock, country, and pop cover bands that keep the dance floor packed well into the night.
For those who prefer a more intimate setting, the Bar 1905 lounge features acoustic sets and solo performers on Friday and Saturday evenings. The best part is that many of these shows are free to attend, though reservations are recommended for the larger acts. The casino often pairs concerts with food and drink specials, making it a complete night out.
Special Promotions and Tournament Events
The casino calendar is dotted with recurring promotions that add a layer of excitement to every visit. Some of the most popular upcoming events include:
- High-Limit Slot Tournaments with cash prizes and luxury prize drawings.
- Texas Hold’em Poker Nights featuring guaranteed prize pools in the dedicated poker room.
- Women in Gaming Nights with exclusive bonuses, complimentary drinks, and spa giveaways.
- Holiday-Themed Bingo Sessions that run in the bingo hall with progressive jackpots.
- Double Points Days for loyalty card holders, allowing faster redemption for free play and dining credits.
These events are designed to reward repeat visitors and attract new players. The casino’s loyalty program, Hollywood Rewards, is the key to unlocking many of these benefits, and members receive early notification about tournament registration dates.
Culinary Events and Dining Specials
Dining at Hollywood Casino has evolved into an experience of its own. The property houses several restaurants, but the upcoming Chef’s Table Dinner Series is a standout. Held in a private room overlooking the racing track, these multi-course meals are paired with premium wines and crafted by the executive chef. The menu changes with the seasons, using local ingredients from Pennsylvania farms.
For a more casual option, the Grandstand Grill is launching a weekly “Burger and a Bet” special on Thursday nights, where a gourmet burger and a side come with a free $5 race wager. Additionally, the Buffet is offering a “Seafood Saturday” that features fresh crab legs, shrimp, and oysters, which pairs perfectly with a day of racing.
